Project Overview

From August through November 2017, as UNC Orthopedics & Sports Medicine moved from Greenway Health to Epic, I standardized and merged legacy nursing workflows into the new EHR environment. I redesigned intake histories and patient document templates, then streamlined the most common procedures to accelerate turnaround and reduce patient wait times.

I developed over 40 custom templates and macros, then leveraged standardization principles to consolidate them into a focused toolkit—significantly reducing nursing documentation burden. Additionally, I authored clear, patient‑facing education materials to ensure thoroughness and support more informed decision‑making.

Outcomes & Impact

• Productivity relative to target DOUBLED soaring from 85% in August to 177% in November.
• Quicker procedure turnaround and a noticeable decrease in patient wait times.
• Reduced nursing documentation workload by consolidating templates and macros.
• Improved patient engagement through easy‑to‑read education materials.
